About

My research deals specifically with French philosophy, until the present, and generally with points of passage between French, German and Anglo-American philosophies.

In Rio de Janeiro, I am a founding member of the "Núcleo de pesquisas sobre a filosofia francesa contemporânea" (Research Group on Contemporary French Philosophy). I have published research on Deleuze, Foucault, Badiou, Janicaud, Habermas, Apel, N. Wiener, Agamben, Charles Taylor.

Area of research: ontology, ethics, logic, political philosophy and philosophy of religion.

Area of specialization: multiculturalism, republicanism, art, psychoanalytic theory.

Book in production, to be published by Editora Ideias e letras (Sao Paulo) in 2011: "O Múltiplo sem Um: uma apresentação do sistema de Alain Badiou".

Nearing completion: A Fé na matriz do ateismo. (Faith in the Matrix of Atheism).

Editor of the 2008.2, special issue of "Ethica. Cadernos acadêmicos" on Alain Badiou´s philosophy (http://www.revistaethica.com.br); of the 2009.2 supplement of "Ethica. Cadernos acadêmicos" on recent tendencies in the philosophy of religion.

Editor and translator of Alain Badiou's "Manifesto for Philosophy" SUNY Press, 1999, and Alain Badiou´s "Briefings on Existence", SUNY Press, 2006.

I am Canadian born. I have studied, worked and lived in France and now in Brazil.
